Founded in 1986, the Raleigh Flute Choir is one of the nation’s leading professional flute choirs. Performing regularly throughout North Carolina, the ensemble has also played at the White House and in Chicago, Orlando, Charleston, and Williamsburg. Their varied repertoire ranges from arrangements of familiar orchestral pieces to world premieres of contemporary flute choir literature. The Raleigh Flute Choir has recorded four albums, with the most recent one, Kaleidoscope, available on Apple Music.
Thiago Bohm Bottega
Kimberly Bridgers has a BA in Music Performance from Indiana State University. She has been a member of the Raleigh Area Flute Association and the Raleigh Flute Choir since 1994. She was a flute instructor at the Cary School of music and Meredith College and has performed with many orchestras and ensembles in the Triangle area.
Irene Burke has a Degree in Music from the Crane School of Music in New York and performs professionally with several arts groups in the Raleigh Area. She has performed with several orchestras in the Northeast as well as being a member of the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra since relocating to this area in 1986, Durham Symphony and Carolina Philharmonic in Southern Pines in addition to playing with the Raleigh Flute Choir. Ms. Burke was a student of Samuel Baron and Donald MacDonald. In addition to music interests, Ms. Burke is a CPA and has served as Treasurer or accountant for many of the area’s local non profit artistic groups since 1991.
Amy Holt, a Raleigh native, earned her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Georgia. She is the President of Raleigh Area Flute Association and maintains a private studio. In addition to freelance work, Amy performs with the Raleigh Flute Choir, the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, and is a substitute for the North Carolina Symphony.
Andrea McKerlie Luke is the Executive Director for the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra and the Cultural Voice of North Carolina (CVNC). She is an active performer with the Raleigh Area Flute Choir and previously directed several of its youth flute choirs while maintaining an active home studio. She is a Chapel Hill native and has performed with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, Raleigh Little Theatre, and Triangle Youth Ballet. She is a published author of arts reviews as well as two novels. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance, along with a minor in Professional Writing and Presentation Media, from Meredith College in 2013.
Emma Morris is the Music Director for the Raleigh Area Flute Association Flute Choirs. She actively performs and teaches in North Carolina and in the past has played with many renowned groups across the East Coast of the US. Emma earned her BM in Flute Performance at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music and her MM in Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. When she isn’t performing or teaching, Emma enjoys hiking with her husband and their dog Boo.
Lauren Robbins-Pollack earned her Master of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Arizona and her Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Michigan, where she studied music education and performance. Locally, she freelances and plays with the Raleigh Flute Choir and the Triangle Wind Ensemble. She has performed with the National Flute Association Professional Flute Choir and has toured Europe and Asia with the International Flute Orchestra. A committed educator and life-long learner, Lauren teaches at the Cary School of Music and is active in the Raleigh Area Flute Association.
Rosene Rohrer is a Lancaster, Pennsylvania native who graduated from Millersville University in Music Education and continued her flute studies with Timothy Day, Rebecca Troxler, William Montgomery, Alexa Still, and Moshe Epstein. After moving to Raleigh in 1981 and establishing a home-based private teaching studio, she co-founded the Raleigh Flute Choir (1986) and Raleigh Area Flute Association (1985), serving as President of the latter for 36 years. Today she can be spotted around town performing with Triangle Wind Ensemble, Raleigh Flute Choir, and in various chamber groups and musical theater pit orchestras. Along with her husband David, she leads music and worship at Raleigh Mennonite Church and enjoys solving crossword puzzles and spending time with three precious grandchildren.
